Mobile app for COPD patients (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

COPD is a progressive lung disease predominantly caused by smoking. Since it’s progressive, the major concern is the quality of life and management of the disease for sufferers. (non-pharmacological intervention).

A group of student at Aalto University are completing a service design project for a mobile app aimed at improving the quality of life of COPD patients.
Core services for the app that have been identified from needs finding are Nutritional suggestions, physical activities/exercise plans, medication aids, improved relationship with physicians, family and care-givers.

The dilemma here is how best to introduce these services to COPD patients and get them interested in it as an active part of non-pharmacological interventions to improve their quality of life.

Ideas on this are truly welcomed.
